Japanese Tools Intensive

$940.00

Five day Japanese tools intensive is focused on, you guest it, tools!

The Japanese woodworking tools are know for their sophistication and amazing performance. The tools can only perform well if they are well set up. This class will dive deeply into the subtleties of the set up and use of the tools. Specifically the chisel and plane. We will use saws as well but there is no set up needed for the saws.

With your newly set up plane you will learn how to flatten and square up stock with which we will mark and cut one or more mortice and tenon.

The precise execution of joinery requires sharp tools so participants will also learn sharpening with Japanese water stones.

This class is intended as an intro to Japanese woodworking through the tools. It also serves as a firm foundation for taking the Japanese Joinery Intensive.
